My name is Aleka Gürel and I'm a photographer based in San Francisco. My background is in photojournalism and event photography, and I especially love photographing sports. My photography has appeared in The Daily Princetonian, the Princeton Alumni Weekly, Town Topics and at Wired.com.
Before I moved to the Bay Area, I completed a masters in history of science at the University of Cambridge, where my research focused primarily on 19th & 20th century pregnancy, childbirth and reproductive medicine. As an undergraduate, I studied history, gender studies, and Brazilian studies at Princeton University. For a list of my published writing, please see here.
